1. General Description

Job Description:

  • Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.
  • The Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for the Management, Supervision and Control of all Technical, Engineering and Quantity Surveying activities of SIT Group.


Job Duties:

  1. To assist the Chief Executive Officer in:(a) the running of the day to day operations of SIT Group;(b) managing and directing the internal operations of the SIT Group to achieve budgeted results and other financial criteria; and(c)    planning and directing all aspects of the SIT Group’s operational policies and objectives.
  2. To lead, manage, supervise and control the Project, Land Survey and Quantity Surveying teams in line with the mission and objectives of SIT Group and in accordance with established policies.
  3. To explore and recommend technologies that would allow the re-engineering of all Technical, Engineering and Quantity Surveying activities.
  4. To work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a proven track record of creating and implementing innovative solutions to meet the organizational needs of SIT Group.
  5. To appraise and evaluate the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and report thereon to the Chief Executive Officer.
  6. To advise on strategic operational decisions and key corporate planning issues.
  7. To participate actively in the development and preparation of short – term and long – range plans.
  8. To conduct risk assessments of the project and advise the Chief Executive Officer accordingly.
  9. To attend Board meeting, Committees, and meetings as and when required.
  10. To prepare bidding and contract documents for Contractors and Consultants in line with the principles of good governance.
  11. To identify the potential area of Land to be developed.
  12. To manage, supervise and control the maintenance activities and events at The Core Building, Ebene.


2. Qualifications

By selection from among candidates possessing:

  • A First degree with Honours in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
  • A Master degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying or Management or Finance or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ post qualification working experience in an Engineering environment and in the handling of a minimum of 25 major civil works contracts.


3. Profile of Candidates

Candidates should also:

  1. have a strong Numeracy, Financial and Contract Management skills;
  2. possess both strong and effective oral and written communication as well as presentation/negotiation skills;
  3. be trustworthy and able to adopt a multi-disciplinary approach to problem-solving;
  4. be versatile and adaptable to different work situations and conditions;
  5. have a high degree of professional ethics, integrity and confidentiality;
  6. demonstrate sound knowledge of operational, procurement and bidding procedures and regulations.
  7. be computer literate.
